Fertilizer Plant Lead
A leading Ag Co-op in Iowa is seeking a Fertilizer Plant Lead to oversee the operations of their dry and liquid fertilizer facility. This role is critical in ensuring efficient plant operations, regulatory compliance, and exceptional service to patrons. This role requires strong leadership, mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of agronomy operations to support the cooperative’s mission of serving its agricultural community effectively.
Fertilizer Plant Lead Responsibilities:
- Efficiently operate and manage liquid and dry fertilizer plant operations.
- Collaborate with agronomy procurement to manage inventory, pricing, quantities, and delivery schedules.
- Gain expertise in agronomy operations, including contracts, work orders, logistics, and dispatching.
- Ensure compliance with customer licensing requirements for restricted-use pesticides.
- Understand and maintain equipment capabilities, including floaters, rogators, and tenders.
- Maintain records for chemical repackaging agreements and ensure accurate documentation.
- Uphold company standards for safety, environmental regulations, health, quality, and customer service.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain warehouse standards.
- Operate weighing systems accurately and in compliance with established procedures.
- Assist customers with agronomic product decisions in a professional and courteous manner.
- Coordinate spreading, spraying, and delivery of bulk fertilizer with custom applicators and tanks.
- Plan, assign, and direct work efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Fertilizer Plant Lead Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years of experience in an agronomy-related role.
- General mechanical ability.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with internal teams and customers.
